About us
The TarWheel A’s was founded in 1983, and serves the Model A hobbyists of the Triangle Area in central North Carolina. We have members in Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Clayton, Fuquay, Hillsboro, Durham, Chapel Hill and Wake Forest. Our current roster includes some 50 families, and almost 65 vehicles. As with any organization, we have those that are just getting started, and those that are the “old hands”. We have a few award-winning cars, several cars that are in pieces, and everything in between. There is a place for everyone. We try to make the organization one that can be enjoyed by the whole family, and to that end schedule events like: an Ice Cream Social, a Dog Burn, a Shrimp Boil, Games Day, Lube Day, Parades, Tours… as well as the usual monthly meetings that generally deal with technical topics. The club is affiliated with one of the two national organizations. MAFCA: The Model A Ford Club of America. Our annual dues are $25, and are due on January 1st. It is suggested that you belong to MAFCA too, and you might find it useful to join both of the national organization, the other being MARC. They both publish their magazines every other month, and they do interleave, which means joining both is a great way to get a magazine every month. Our regular meetings are at 2:00pm on the first Sunday of the month. These dates will always be published in our newsletter - “The Dispatch”, and here on our website.
This year, as always, we are concentrating on getting more of our Model As on the road, and increasing the confidence levels of members in their vehicles. We are will be trying to schedule events to help facilitate this, and encourage you to jump right in. The old Ford advertising slogan read: “Watch the Fords go by”, and we want to try to get as many on the road as we can, so folks out there can “Watch the Fords go by”.
If you think you would like to join the club, please fill out an application, and send it along with a check for your first dues to:
